Dangerous Goods
What are dangerous goods?
Dangerous goods are items or substances that when transported by aircraft are a risk to health, safety, property or environment. Examples of dangerous goods include, but not limited to, explosives, radioactive materials, flammable liquids, dangerous or volatile chemicals, strong acids, compressed gases, poisons and aerosols.
Carriage of dangerous goods by air is subjected to the regulations set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which can be found in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. As per the IATA DGR, it is the shipper’s responsibility to correctly declare all dangerous goods when sending cargo in for uplift on any carrier. Failure to do so will be deemed as a case of undeclared/hidden DG, which is a very serious offense.
Some of the common dangerous goods that are easily overlooked include lithium batteries (in the form of laptops, mobile phones), perfumery products, lighters etc. Always be safe rather than sorry! If you are unsure whether the cargo you are lodging in contains Dangerous Goods, feel free to approach our staff for assistance.

Our Cargo Terminal
Technology
The new cargo terminal is fitted with the Material Handling System, which allows seamless and automated handling of cargo containers and pallets – the system utilizes cutting-edge technology, ETV (elevating transport vehicle), to move and store cargo in a systematic and organized manner. This will allow a more efficient and productive means of cargo handling, which will result in faster cargo delivery services for the customers.
Facilities
With a significant portion of Muscat’s import and export cargo being of perishable and temperature-controlled nature, such as fruits and vegetables, frozen meat and pharmaceutical products, the fully air-conditioned terminal, together with its huge cold room storage facility, will ensure that the cold chain integrity of these cargo will be maintained throughout the entire handling process, which is especially important during the summer season.
Standalone Dangerous Goods and Radioactive Material storage facilities are also available for consignees/shippers who are intending to import/export shipments of such nature. These facilities provide storage of these shipments under a safe and isolated environment, away from the rest of the cargo. Security of cargo, especially those of high value, is also well taken care of – there are available vault and cages to store high value cargo, and the terminal has a comprehensive security camera coverage around the clock.
